| COMMUNITY EDUCATION EXPERIENCE: | |
| I have fundraised, planned, marketed, promoted, facilitated and evaluated projects on behalf of the members of a community group based in the Midlands area, in particular, West Midlands, Staffordshire, South Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire. The project, ‘Arts in the Community’ consisted of eight art workshops for children aged from four years to teenage. These included printing and clay workshops, as well as the production of a BIG art piece, where seasonal themes were painted onto large strips of acetate – on completion this was displayed in a public place. ‘DIY Girls’ was a project geared for older girls. Activities included T-shirt and greeting card design, laminated place mats and encaustic art. The sessions were informal. The girls participated in the set activities with enthusiasm. They learned new skills: |

‘I think my favourite has to be the T-shirt design. It was good fun and I’m pleased with my top!’
‘I liked the encaustic art the best because I had never done it before and it was interesting. I also like the effect that was made by doing it.’
For a recent project I selected workshops themes from my own project called ‘Get Smart through Art.’ Through evaluation and feedback I am looking into the possibility of the group booking further sessions on a self funding basis. |
