Get Smart through Art
AN OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT:  
The project is called ‘Get Smart through Art’. It consists of eight workshop themes for primary aged children working, in the main, at Key Stage 2. I link creative activities to the teaching of formal subjects in order to achieve learning outcomes using imaginative and inspirational ideas.
THE WORKSHOP THEMES:
  1. Shape Poem (Literacy)
    1. Number Balloons/Tangrams (Numeracy)
      1. Butterfly Whale Collage. Brainstorming Adjectives (Literacy)
        1. Canal Houses (Geography)
          1. Eraser Sets (Design and Technology)
            1. Egyptian Head Cloth/Jewelled Collar (Ancient History)
              1. Copycat Masterpiece: The Mona Lisa (Art/History)
                1. Moving Pictures (Poetry Study, Literacy)
                THE AIM
                The aim of the workshops is that each child be a participant in an approach that fits with their own learning style. This will involve changing the class environment, or that pupil’s ‘dress-up’ for a theme. Sometimes I will bring in decorations, food items or CDs. The workshops encourage the children to have fun together.
                THE ARTISTIC EXPERIENCE
                All completed artwork will be two dimensional on the whole. Many techniques involve using freehand. Tips are provided to help the child participate in an artistic experience using collage, pastels, acrylic and watercolour paints and wax crayon. Equipment will be supplied. Many designs can be used for classroom displays.
                TEACHER’S INVOLVEMENT
                Workshops will be thoroughly prepared beforehand. Teachers will be fully involved in the delivery, in partnership.
                THE COST
                Prices start from £65.00 for a minimum 2 hour session. Extra time will be required to set up and clear away,
